Uncle Block

An uncle block is a block that is discarded on the Ethereum network because two blocks were mined at nearly the same time and only one can be validated and added to the ledger. A Bitcoin orphan block is similar to an Ethereum uncle block. The two, however, occur on different networks. Furthermore, miners on the Ethereum network are rewarded in ether (ETH), whereas miners on the Bitcoin network are not rewarded in bitcoin (BTC).
