Participation Nodes are the most powerful nodes in the Algorand blockchain network, and they are in charge of running the Pure Proof of Stake (PPoS) consensus mechanism. To become a participation node, any network participant must stake ALGO and generate a valid participation key. The Algorand PPoS consensus mechanism employs a two-phase block production process that includes proposing and voting. Participation nodes are coordinated by relay nodes, which facilitate communication among participation nodes but do not directly participate in proposing and voting.
