The NASDAQ Composite Index is a stock index that includes over 2,500 commodities that are traded on the NASDAQ stock exchange. Almost half of the index is made up of stocks representing technology companies. The asset must be a stock from a traditional company in order to be listed on the NASDAQ Composite Index, which excludes preferred stocks, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and most other securities. Over 90% of the NASDAQ Composite Index is made up of the NASDAQ 100 (the top 100 non-financial NASDAQ stocks by market capitalization).
