A “mining farm” is a large physical location that houses many specialized computers that are designed to mine specific cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin (BTC) is the most commonly mined cryptocurrency, but mining farms for other crypto assets exist as well. Mining farms are typically very expensive to start up due to the high cost of electricity, ongoing maintenance of mining rigs, and extensive cooling systems. To combat these inefficiencies, renewable energy is increasingly being used to power crypto-mining farms.
