Intellectual Property (IP)

Intellectual property (IP) is a broad category of intangible assets that includes, among other things, property rights (such as trademarks or copyrights), computer software, design patents, trade secrets, medical data, and contractual agreements such as land title transfers or mortgages. Musical tracks, ebooks, paintings, images, film, and other artistic mediums are all examples of intellectual property. IP laws vary significantly across jurisdictions and are widely required to provide businesses and individuals with rights to the information and intellectual goods they create in order to mitigate potential data theft. Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and tokenized cryptocurrency assets are examples of intellectual property in a blockchain context.
