Jae Kwon, a computer scientist, founded Ignite (formerly known as Tendermint) in 2014. Tendermint developed the Proof-of-Stake (PoS) Tendermint Core Byzantine Fault Tolerant (BFT) consensus mechanism for the Cosmos Hub blockchain. Tendermint serves as a portal to the Cosmos blockchain ecosystem. The Application Blockchain Interface (ABI) was developed by the company to enable the replication of decentralized applications (dApps) written in a variety of programming languages. They also created the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol, which is an interoperability protocol designed to improve the security of data transfers between blockchains.
