Hydra is a Layer-2 solution for Cardano developed by Input-Output Global (IOG) which is intended to improve throughput, reduce latency, and incur little-to-no costs — all while preventing Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks. Hydra will do so by processing transactions off-chain while remaining tangentially linked to the main Cardano ledger for transaction settlement. Hydra is set to be released in late 2022.
