Vitalik Buterin, Gavin Wood, and other Ethereum co-founders established the Ethereum Foundation in 2014. The Ethereum Foundation is one of several community-oriented organizations tasked with overseeing the Ethereum protocol (along with ConsenSys, the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance, and others).
