A DAG (Directed Acyclic Graph) is a type of Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT). A DAG is a network of individual transactions that are only connected to each other—no blocks—as opposed to a blockchain, which groups transactions into blocks and orders them in a linear fashion. While blockchains require block validation, individual transactions in a DAG provide validation for one another. Because all network users in a DAG are simultaneously miners and validators, transaction fees are much lower than on public blockchain networks.
