Decentralized Network

A decentralized network is a network that connects separate entities that communicate without the use of a central authority or server. They contrast with centralized networks, which have a single point of governance. Blockchains are an example of a decentralized system: the data ledger is distributed among network participants (nodes), and for the network to function, they must reach consensus on the data content. Blockchains are typically more secure and resistant to attacks because even damaged, malicious, or offline nodes cannot alter or shut down the network due to their consensus mechanism(s).
