Decentralized Application (dApp)

A decentralized application, or dApp, is a blockchain-based application that addresses use cases ranging from investment to lending to gaming and governance. Although the user experience (UX) of dApps is similar to that of web applications, dApp back-end processes avoid centralized servers in favor of transacting in a distributed and peer-to-peer fashion. dApps rely on wallet software to interact with automated smart contracts on supported blockchain networks, rather than the central Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP).
